Peter De Been BJJ
The Gracie-De Been competition team remains undefeated in Australian Jiu Jitsu competition since tournaments began in 1995. The Gracie-De Been is the most dominant force in Australian Jui Jitsu. The Gracie-De Been team is the only Jui Jitsu Team that claim stake to Australias first Black Belt awarded in Brazil and the first Australian Jui Jitsu World Champion!
Gracie-De Been has developed through the emphasis on effective leverage and technique over brute strength. It is in essence a grappling style, which is highly effective due to its use of ground grappling submission techniques such as chokes and joint locks.
Although a traditional style, Jiu Jitsu continues to evolve and refine its techniques. It is both a method of self-defence and an ever increasingly popular sport. Because of its focus on technique over strength Jiu Jitsu is suitable to most people regardless of their gender, age or physical ability.
The uniqueness of Jiu Jitsu training lies in learning and understanding the concepts that underpin the overall art. Jiu Jitsu techniques can only be applied successfully with a solid understanding of leverage and positioning concepts. The concepts then will allow a student to find a finishing technique that can be applied. Control concepts, positioning concepts and defence concepts are passed onto the student in early training and reinforced throughout training. These concepts form the foundation for Jiu Jitsu from the beginner right up to the most elite level.
A further positive of your training will be an overall increase in your levels of confidence. You will have the honour and piece of mind in knowing that you are learning what is considered to be the most effective form of self-defence in the world today. Training in Jiu Jitsu will give you an underlying power, which is yours to keep with you for the rest of your life.
